Accessibility Statement

Chameleon is committed to making this application accessible to people with disabilities. This statement applies to the web application served from chameleons.study and any future custom domains we operate.

Conformance status

We target Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA and the harmonised European standard EN 301 549. The application is partially conformant: most of the application meets the standard, but some content does not yet — see Known limitations below.

Compatibility

The application is tested with:

  • Latest two versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.
  • NVDA on Windows + JAWS on Windows; VoiceOver on macOS / iOS.
  • Operating-system prefers-reduced-motion and prefers-color-scheme.

Accessibility features we ship

  • Keyboard-navigable primary nav, with visible focus rings on every interactive element.
  • An in-app accessibility mode that swaps fonts (OpenDyslexic / Lexend), increases line height, and disables decorative animation.
  • All decorative animation is disabled when the OS sets prefers-reduced-motion: reduce.
  • Skip-to-main-content link as the first focusable element on every page.
  • Coloured dot indicators for FSRS mastery are paired with text labels (no colour-only signalling).

Known limitations

We are aware of the following gaps and are tracking each toward fixes:

  • A full accessibility audit is in progress; known gaps will be published here as they are confirmed.
  • AI-generated tutorial content occasionally produces complex Mermaid diagrams without a textual alternative; we are working on auto-generated alt-text for these.

Feedback

If you encounter an accessibility barrier, contact us at accessibility@chameleons.study — we aim to respond within 7 calendar days as required under EAA Art. 9.

Enforcement

If a response is unsatisfactory, EU residents may escalate the complaint to the relevant national equality body or accessibility supervisory authority. For the Netherlands: digitoegankelijk.nl. Enforcement-body contact details for further EU jurisdictions will be listed here.
